Wake up feeling like we need more sleep (even though we’ve had over 10 hours) but a good night’s sleep nevertheless – bloody jet lag!
Down for some hotel breakfast – they have a large buffet with all sorts
Pancakes for Daisy, of course, and pastries with some experimental noodles for Dave
Back up to get ready for the day and head out
Walk a different way than yesterday – peaceful stroll with the KL Tower in sight

Stop off at Sloaft Cafe for another caffeine hit and an adorable looking warmed apple crumble pastry to share

Continue onwards to Chinatown

Massive flea market with stalls selling all sorts – even pretty good knock off goods
Views of Merdeka 118

This leads us towards Kasturi Walk, another very small and cleaner flea market
We follow the road around to the water: River of Life

This is an ongoing project in the city to rejuvenate the waterway and encourage wildlife and people to the area
Across the bridge, on the Western side, is the British-made area with the Sultan Abdul Samad Government Building and the Merdeka Square

The square is currently under renovation but very pretty still and has a giant Malaysian flag as well as many others
The square is in honour of Malaysia’s liberation from the UK in 1957, just a decade after India!
Following the road south, we find the National Mosque of Malaysia – closed for non-muslim tourists today it seems

It’s next to Kuala Lumpar’s main train station
Up the hill is a large garden and we go in to get to KL Bird Park
It’s the largest free-flight, walk-in aviary in the world!

So many sorts of birds and one is giving a gentleman’s shoes some security issues!

They have pelicans, stalks, ibis, egrets, peacocks and, most importantly, hornbills (Malaysia’s national bird)
Dave spots that there’s a bird show on so we run over for that

They have macaws and cockatoos singing and dancing
Macaws/parrots have 7x better eyesight than humans!
Back to investigating the park
After, we get a taxi back to the Chinatown flea market and buy a couple bits we’d seen before (but now have a little bit of cash to actually purchase)
Time for a break – we go to Crane KL for a little happy hour of two tiger beers
Now off for some dinner – not too far but it’s hot and the taxi fares are cheap
To Pavillion Mall 7th floor at Roast Duck Restaurant

Naturally have to have Peking duck but also have Kung Po chicken with Singapore noodles – yummy!
We opt to stroll home to help dinner go down
