Day 97 – A Bondi Beach Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone! From Davesy down under!

Start the day with a coffee watching the Grinch, then off to a Christmas lunch at the Storehouse

A lovely buffet with turkey, ham, ravioli, cheese and all the trimmings available

Off to do the traditional Oz Xmas – Bondi Beach! – only a cheeky metro then 10 min bus ride

Lots of people dressed up for Xmas, surfers, swimmers and some giant waves for us to play in .. and get caught a little bit too much in some! Plenty of lifeguards on hand

A helicopter flies over sounding its siren – everybody out of the water! Turns out a shark was spotted a little too close looking a bit too angry – not long till everyone is back in, but we are already on the hunt for a bar – nowhere open so we head back to the centre … after a quick freshen up at home first

Back out and go on the train to Circular Quay: it’s spitting with rain a little and we do spot some drinking venues open. We opt for one Google has suggested and – hey presto – Google delivers!

Customs Public Bar is part of the Marriot Hotel; a little fancy and pricey but it’ll do being one of the only places open

We have to grab food here too as their licence for serving alcohol is only if you’ve had a meal there too! A jug of Peroni while we wait for our food

After over an hour it arrives and we’re on family calls as our relatives are awake now, 11 hours behind – nice timing!

Beef burger and sun-dried tomato, pesto pizza

After, we stroll back towards the train station and catch a glance of the iconic Sydney landmarks at night – must go closer to get a good look

Beautiful weather as well!

Wonder a little into The Rocks too – lots of Christmas vibes and reminds us a little of England with the beer gardens all around. Dave spots a couple cute ratties running about and there’s a horrible ginormous spider!

A long day so back to the hotel for some kip before boxing day!
