Up early to prepare to vacate our little place
Shower, panic packing and we’re only 30 mins late – now with 4 extra bags than we started with … we’re going to need to downsize ????
On train to international airport where we have a little pitstop for some brunch

Extended Macca’s breakfast muffin, two large flat whites, frozen Fanta and left over Domino’s
Off to the car rental area – we’ve booked through Discovery Cars to get a car with Sixt
Saved a penny or two with the “mystery car” offer…
There’s a massive queue for just Sixt so I call them and they say to just go to another terminal
Hop on the free terminal transfer bus to get to T2 – only a little queue so get a car within the hour
Absolute fortune to have Daisy driving too! Young driver adds 300+ AUD – if only we’d waited until after Feb ????
It’s a white beast of a Toyota; Dave first to drive

The car has cruise control, lane assist and is automatic
Straight outta Sydney – get to Featherdale Wildlife Park in less than an hour
The most Australian animals in a wildlife park!
Key animals to note include the Quokkas, Kookaburras, Wallabies & Kangaroos (which you can hand feed!), Koalas several sleeping Wombats and Black Cockatoos

We also catch the Echidna feeding to meet George, Nadia and Hoodini

Dave spots a little Possum hiding in one of the Long-Nosed Potoroo cages too

Back to the car, we set off for the next stop: Blue Mountains National Park

We stop at Lawson as there’s a little entrance – North Lawson Park, part of Blue Mountains National Park – where we can leave the car and wonder round on foot
First on the walking trail we find Fairy Falls, a little cascading waterfall

Then down, quite a way, to Dantes Glen – bit more of a waterfall
We keep following the path till we make it to St Michael’s waterfall

There’s a sign every so often and one suggests the Empire Pass so we take it – embracing the full on rainforest bushwalk we’ve found for ourselves!
Finally, there’s a sign for another waterfall – Frederica Falls – which takes us up and down round the hills for about 40 mins

Now, we’re pretty worked out from this walk so ready to find the car but it’s a matter of taking the right path ????
After a good 30 mins going down “paths” partway and then coming back as they have dead ends, we eventually pick the right one and find our white beauty
Time for noms! We go to the nearest place – Lawson Chinese
It’s in the Lawson Bowling Club but we don’t mind, pretty quiet and we get served quick

A highly recommended chicken satay and sizzling Mongolian beef – yum!
To the car for the last leg to get to a bed, off to South Bowenfels to Bowen Inn Motel
En route Dave continues to argue with his new nagging device as the car complains about any movement near the lines on the road ????
Plus the roads are incredibly foggy and there’s several truckers who are being very cautious
We make it one piece and it’s straight to the shower and then bed ready for more adventuring tomorrow
