Day 112 – Surfing Kangaroos ????????

Up a little early; the usual coffee, shower and out the door routine

We have muffins as a quick, cheeky breakfast today ????

Drive about 20 minutes down the road to Broulee, park in a free parking zone and then walk a little way to our activity starting point: Surf the Bay Surf School

Seems we’ve been paired with a group of 7 children under the age of 10, fun being the big kids!

We get our wetsuits and boards and the beach is just in front of us – a little safety briefing and school in how to catch waves then we’re in

Both of us get the hang of it – Dave’s better than Daisy but that’s to be expected ????

After just shy of two hours, the “lesson” finishes and the guides say we can have a little longer in the water having a go

We go for it this time trying without the wetsuits now as we’re acquainted with the water temperature and they’re pretty rubby

After another 20 mins, we’re fully worn out and get back to the car

A brief stop at Macca’s to grab some needed refuelling before getting back to our place to have a lovely shower and break

Getting back, we realise we’ve both caught the sun quite severely so lather ourselves in aloe vera and chill with some water

Break over – time to make the most of the rest of the day!

Jump in the car and a little drive back North to reach Pebbly Beach

This is in Murramarang National Park and we head in via, a comically named road, Mount Agony Road

Little sad the beach isn’t actually pebbly and it’s a little charge of $8 for this national park

Nevertheless, we do see several Kangaroos

Chilling on the greenery being furry lawnmowers ???? though not actually on the beach

We wonder to the shore and the rocks before heading to the car to go to our next stop

Lots of sea spray from the waves and wind

We spy a Lyrebird on the way back to the car too, with a great view of his incredibly fancy tail!

Nearby, there’s Depot Beach and this has a little rainforest walk

Very easy little in-forest walkway with the opportunity to try and spot a range of animals, including Possums, Bats, Native Cats, Swamp Wallabies, etc.

No luck for us but a nice, quiet little walk

Pop in the car and as we go down the road to turn back round, we spot 3 Wallbies – that’ll do ????

In the car, we go back to Batemans Bay and stop off to a supermarket

We need to grab some more roadtrip snacks, more aloe vera and some easy dinners for a night in

Certainly not the fanciest but a little dinner in of frozen, microwaveable curries and naan in front of some Nick Cage

Bed time!
