Coffee, store-bought porridge and showers before checking out
Little coffee stop at Pistachio Narooma for two flat whites, not far away
On the road for about an hour
We take a little detour to go next to Central Tilba and through Tilba Tilba – very cute-looking 1800s towns
To get to our first destination, we drive via Mimosa Rocks National Park ????
Arrive at Gillards Beach, though Google tries to send us down two weird roads – one was someone’s private drive and the other didn’t exist!

The beach is pretty secluded as it requires a 10 minute drive away from the main road
We’re told online that there’s Kangaroos on the sand but we don’t happen upon any
Instead, there’s a bunch of beached, opaque jelly fish – really don’t recommend taking a dip here!
After wondering up and down the beach, we get back in the car and head to Tathra
On the way, there’s another comically named road: Goats Knob Road ????
We just go to the lookout as the Wharf Museum is closed weekdays

There’s a little memorial park here so we stroll through and then down to the pier next to the museum
Turns out that this pier/wharf is the only open-sea timber wharf on Australia’s East coast surviving from the coastal steamer trade era
There’s a little construction going on round here but it’s still open to walk round
To our surprise, someone has already claimed the wooden wharf – there’s a big Monitor Lizard who’s got lost!

We make sure to keep out of it’s way and leave pretty sharply ????
Right next door, there’s The Wharf Local
Stop for lunch which consists of a ham & cheese toastie, a fish burger and some chips to share

Back in the car, it’s not far to Merimbula
We stop briefly as there’s a boardwalk – you go through the mangroves and by the estuary where they farm oysters

We walk up and down, as we join it in the middle, and spot crabs, Comorants and little spotted pufferfish-looking things a plenty
It’s getting rather hot to be in the bare sun so move on
Next, we have a little drive to Pinnacles that has a little forest walk loop, which is in Beowa National Park

It only takes 20 mins and you get great views of the land feature as well as the beach
In the car again and our stay for the night is just a tad further, in Eden: Coachman’s
Check in and get back out for exploring the little town
After doing a little research for activities around Eden, we find out that the beaches jellyfish we saw earlier are called Bluebottle, or Portuguese Man O War
These have lethal venom and incredibly painful sting – definitely glad we didn’t go in any water today as they’re notorious around here this time of year!
We drive as we’re a little away from the centre of Eden – park up and walk along the South edge of Aslings Beach
Here, there’s a little man-made Rock Pool

We don’t go in but walk round the natural rock pools and find a plethora of sea stars, anemones, sea snails and even fish caught out from the tide
We’re getting hungry so go a bit further into the centre and find Great Southern Inn Hotel
Seems all the hotels become pubs to expand their income – we have a decent priced feast of a rump steak each

Walking off dinner, we hear Hotel Australasia has live music – of course have to pop in
Man in the corner out the back getting jiggy with his acoustic guitar, lovely stuff ????

Back to the motel to try for a good sleep before a long drive tomorrow!
