We’re treated to a complimentary late check out with our stay in Melbourne ☺️

After a porridge and filte coffee for breakfast, we get up and out of the apartment by 11:20am

Round the corner, at Lau’s Café 888, we spy a brunch deal perfect for us to stew with as we’ve only got a flight today to do – each a bagel and a croissant sandwich with flat whites

Doing a bit of admin, we finish up but we’ve got more time to kill so have another couple coffees, at iBean

Time to head to Southern Cross where we have to grab the expensive lift, of Skybus, to the airport

We still have ages till our flight but we settle playing with the Switch

An odd time for food but we figure the flight will take us to dinner time so we have another snack of Macca’s

The flight is almost 4 hours – weird when you think, from England, that’ll get you most of the way across Europe!

Virgin Australia have a free entertainment service so we watch Barbie together

As the plane touches down, the weather is pretty wet – both rain and humidity – as we land in Cairns, Queensland

Melbourne not having a train to the airport is one thing but nothing on Cairns, at the moment, as the bus doesn’t stop at the airport this week so we have to get an extortionate taxi to our Air BnB!

Arriving just in the knick of time, we drop our bits and dash to a restaurant very nearby

Bayleaf Balinese Restaurant is adorable with it’s tiki lights and we have their lamb shank special as well as a chicken curry to share – so yummy, we might even have to come back!

Strolling, before heading back to our place, to walk off dinner, we come across more than a handful of skittish Bush-Stone Curlews

Time for bed ????

Note: we’ve also realised today that even though we’ve travelled North Eastern, we’ve actually lost an hour – making us now 10 hours ahead, rather than 11 hours ahead of the UK – because Queensland doesn’t observe daylight savings; so weird!
