Day 185 – Eating our way through Brisbane

Up with some coffees and our little at home breakfast before making our way to MacArthur Mall

We’re sorting Daisy’s phone – it’s a pretty smooth change over between selling the current and going next door to get the next

This place has a food court so we have a Supreme Carvery to share while we wait

With the goods, we go round to the Riverside Ferry Terminal and grab the City Cat

The ride is about 45 minutes to where we’re heading and it’s not a bad viewpoint from the Brisbane River

Note: to ride the ferries here, you must have a Go Card or a physical printed ticket… we didn’t have one but they were understanding and kind enough to just let us have this and sort it next time

We arrive at Northshore Hamilton where they have Eat Street: a place hosting an impressive number and variation of food vendors that’s open weekend days

Arriving just as it opens, at 4pm, it’s quiet but that also means we get lots of freebies handed out – helpful for narrowing down the food choices we want to purchase

We have our first food to share: some pork gyozas with a soy and vinegar sauce from a Tokyo food stall

There’s some music starting at the stage, the Main Deck it’s a foursome group of men in jazzy shirts

We have a stroll and see all the food offerings with a couple Tiger beers – next on the menu is tacos

One brisket, one chicken, one pulled pork and one chorizo ????

Music continues with a DJ on an open air stage, a blues band on another and the Main Deck changing it up between a hoola hoop act and a guitar-fiddle duet too

We share some popcorn chicken, wonder another circuit of the place and then finally share a Toblerone brownie

Getting to over three hours since we arrived, we think to start making an exit – the information point even gives us a couple of lost Go Cards so we can catch the next ferry back

The views on the way back really are something special!

It’s not too late so we opt for a longer walk home through the Botanic Gardens again, as someone said it was worth a nose after dark

Prepped with our torches, we go hunting – we find loads of locals in the trees and bushes: a couple Curlews, some sleeping Bin Chickens and a large amount of squawking bats

We go further and find the most amount of Brushtail Possums we’ve ever seen, we literally lost count – they were being so boisterous, two were even pushed out of their trees!!

There was also a very calm and peaceful Ringtail Possum – a first for us!

We call it a night and eventually make it back after a 20 minute walk
