4:30am start! Ouchy ????

Down to the wharf it’s nice and peaceful on the roads at least

We grab a coffee from Shop Giày Dép Bé Hon and get on our boat efficiently, it even leaves early!

Cruise down the Mekong Delta in the dark for 7kms

There are 11 floating markets but we are going to the largest and it’s open for most of the morning, we are just getting a 2-in-1 sunrise and market tour, apparently

Some lovely sunrise over the Mekong Delta and we pass some jazzy lit up bridges too!

Our tour boat is very filled with Vietnamese tourists, but a couple of us foreign tourists are thrown into the mix – the tour is in Vietnamese but our guide gives us a brief personal overview in English

When we arrive to floating markets we see each boat has a pole sticking out dangling the goods that they sell – turnips, pineapples, etc

There are so many boats! Some come all the way down from Ho Chi Minh

We stop at a floating cafe for a cheeky coffee break on the water, before reboarding and heading down river to the Noodle Factory

It’s basically a bit of a floating tat and noodle shop, but upstairs they are setup to make and fry noodles, and dry them outside in the sun

We get back onboard and cruise down to the coconut candy factory

This place has the same setup of shop, which we saw on the last Mekong Delta tour, of a little section where they make the coconut candy – having already seen this in action, we speed through and head out down the street to see the street market – fruits, veg, meat, fish, frogs, eels and a man walking a duck ????

We see some shack houses on stilts along the small canals before heading home back down the river enjoying some on board karaoke

Back before 9am – all in all, not bad for £3 each

We arrive back, and starving, we head to Bánh mì và café A.T for a cheeky spag bol and cheeseburger – breakfasts of champions!

Head back to the hotel for a shower and chill: Daisy has a nap while Dave does some work

Post nap, we go to VADO Canteen – Nhà Hàng Nhỏ Vui Vẻ for a cheeky pizza – slow service and they only have the little pizza – it’s very cheesy but does the trick in the end

We head to the Can Tho markets – quite small and quiet but they are quite nice

Suffering from the heat, we go back to the hotel for more chill time and work

Back out for dinner we go, it’s finally starting to cool down outside! Only 32 degrees now

We go to the mall and inside is Spicy Box – a buffet / hotpot place that seems to be a favourite dish in Vietnam so we just had to try it

You pick your ingredients from the buffet – meats, veggies, noodles, etc and cook them up in your own personal hotpot of sauce – fun and messy!

Stuffed to the brim, we wander on down to the waterfront to enjoy the lights, night markets and atmosphere – and even grab a cheeky banana crêpe

Finally, we head back up through the park and home to some lovely air con
