Day 17 – Waterfalling for Zadar

Early start – 6:40am!

We get up speedily to shower with a hotel coffee and off to the trip meeting point

Stroll pass the Roman Forum and Church of St. Donatus after finding a bakery to grab two croissants and some lunch

Dave’s cheeky arm and breakfast!

On board van for 2 hour ride to Plitvice Lakes National Park (most of it the same way we came from Zagreb)

Organise the next leg of our journey: Split

Arrive! Nice to have some fresh air and a coffee

Definitely chillier than Zadar – make sure to bring layers

Walk down to catch the “electric train” to the top of our hiking trail (it’s more like a diesel bus than a train)

After, we walk for about 1.5 hours passing all the “upper lakes” and reach largest lake, Kozjak, which we cross by boat

Little break for lunch and another coffee

Final part of the trip is walking round the “lower lakes” which is very busy

Reach the Veliki Slap, or “great waterfall” – time for some pictures!

Very beautiful and only one segment of this waterfall!

At the end, we’ve walked over 10km to then meet the van that’ll take us back to Zadar

Overall great trip! We would definitely recommend Talvi Tours Zadar and our tour guide, Jelena

Back to our lodgings for a chill and have some dinner

Note: The ready meal lasagnes and frozen pizzas are terrible here – Europe just doesn’t do ready meals like we do

We even have some time to do laundry… neither of us have ever hung washing to dry on ropes in public three stories high though!

Got some Italian Job on the telly before an early night
