So… from eventually making it into the hotel and finding the missing light switch to have actual darkness in the room, it was a pretty rubbish sleep – seems some of our neighbours needed to have detailed, loud discussions around 5am ????????
When we were meant to get up, we have a coffee and shower speedily to get out and make our way to the BẾN TÀU CAO TỐC RẠCH GIÁ ferry terminal
We arrive 30 mins early, as out tickets suggest, and get a show while we wait our turn to board – it’s absolute chaos!

On the PHÚ QUỐC EXPRESS BOAT, can you guess where we’re off to?
It takes about 2.5 hours and we get a coffee on board as soon as humanly possible – it’s not great but it sorts us out
At around 1pm, we arrive into Cảng Bãi Vòng – Bến Tàu Cao Tốc Phú Quốc and get straight to somewhere that looks the part for a little lunch

The place we go to isn’t actually labelled on Google but we order a fresh orange juice, fresh passion fruit juice and a couple of bahn mi
There’s taxi drivers everywhere and we bargain one down to take us to our hotel, Labe Phú Quốc Hotel & Restaurant
This place is our cheapest stay we’ve come across yet, at just £9 per night – turns out, as we arrive it becomes clear as to why
It resides in a place called Sunset Town – this place was built from the ground up only semi-recently and is technically owned by a big conglomerate, called Suncorp, and is still being made – it looks like we’re the only people staying in our entire hotel!
The place has basically just been finished and has everything we need so we’re more than pleased ☺️
We shower, get organised and set out in hunt for more snicky-snacks

The area is stunningly beautiful and built incorporating architecture from multiple influences: Italy, hosting general Mediterranean vibes (previously being called Mediterranean Town); Las Vegas; Hawaii; Roman; and so on
Weirdly, as we nose around, we notice that loads of the buildings are more like shells and unfinished – about 1 in 15 actually being finished
We make our way to a bit more of the central area: Piazza di San Marco – literally mimicking the original with their very own clock tower!

They have a Colloseum-like building too which houses the cable car Hon Thom Departure Terminal – Sun World Hòn Thơm Nature Park
A quick stop at a supermarket shop for a couple of ice creams to get us through a couple more hours

We try and make our way around all the little streets in hunt for a dinner spot, for later, as well as making sure not to miss anything here
The town is right on the sea and we reach the part where you can go in for a dip – you get a nice view of the town as well as one of the main attractions here: the Cầu Hôn, or Kiss Bridge, of Phú Quốc

In the warm water for about half an hour before an announcement is made about a show – we think it’s about the Water Puppet set up they have on the beach so get out and get a good spot
Turns out, it’s actually a watersports show!

It’s the perfect lead up to the main event: the sunset, and trust us, it’s a beauty!
After, we head to Draft Beer – yes, this is a restaurant – and order a basic dinner but we just wanted something decent and filling

We devour some chips and as much as we can of basically a whole chicken – actually comes to one of our most expensive meals since arriving ????
After, we start our way back to the hotel and actually stumble on one of the main attractions of this place being held at the moment: the Vui Fest Bazaar night markets

The street is filled with small food vendors offering all sorts – we’re sorted for dinner tomorrow, it seems
We get to the end and it’s not too far to our hotel; we get in and have The Running Man on the telly before getting some rest
