Up at after 10am for our final breakfast here – seems the other guests staying have cleared the place though… we grab what we can that’s left with a couple of coffees
Back up to the room, we get ready and pack up to check out
We get a Grab to the airport – need to remember, for next time, that you can book a taxi here at least 10 minutes in advance as everyone’s stuck in traffic ????
Arriving at KLIA terminal 1 just after 1pm, we check in to the flight, get our tickets and drop off our two big bags, as we got to check them into the hold for free
Next, we get through passport conteol and customs before heading to Burger King for some lunch
They even have a Hard Rock Cafe in the airport!

For some reason, our gate is starting to “board” a whole hour before the plane’s due to leave so we have to dash with our bits there and go through the on-the-gate security
We have our noms in the pen before the plane as we wait to be coaxed to the plane, quickly
Thankfully, the plane isn’t rammed so we have the aisle to ourselves – Daisy has a nap on Dave and Dave keeps himself entertained with Candy Crush
We land in Jakarta just before 4pm Indonesia local time (it’s an hour behind Malaysia)
Off the plane, it’s a 10 minute walk to the Visa On Arrival office – we did this in advance yesterday rather than having another step here to do – and on the way we’re able to complete a customs form necessary for all arrivals
The wait isn’t too long but as we’re at the counter, the lady tells us we never needed to be in the queue as we already had the visas on our phones – silly, sleepy us ????
We’re through to collect our bags and to the outside of the airport
Now’s the moment where we get to choose our mode of transport out of here: you can go via public bus which will take circa 2.5 hours, the public train that takes almost 2 hours or finally a private Grab or Gojek taxi that takes 1 hour (all to do just 26km ????); we go for the latter as it’s only about £8
The ride is smooth and our driver efficiently gets through traffic in about 40 minutes
We check in and our room is standard but will do the job; we have a quick shower and then head out to find some dinner
Daisy finds a spot nearby that looks promising – on the way, we spot some stray Cats as well as a Rat!

When we arrive, it seems they’ve reduced their menu significantly so we try somewhere else
A less-than-one-quid taxi gets us North of Jakarta – on the way, we pass the Istiqlal Mosque, the West Irian Liberation Monument as well as the Jakarta Cathedral – to Joni Steak
It’s got an inordinate amount of reviews so we give it a shot: it’s a restaurant that serves steak at very cheap prices – we go for a couple combo meals which include the 200g steak, with wedges and gravy, in addition to a blackcurrant squash and an adorable crème brulé ????

It fills us nicely and all for just under £15 – bargain!
After, we pop around down the street to grab some cash out and then get another taxi back to our hotel’s area; on the way, we’re driven by the Merdeka Presidential Palace Merdeka and the National Monument
We’ve gone to an Alfamidi – a common convenience store – and then back to the hotel
The hotel has a pool so we check that out quickly – it’s apparently under maintenance (doesn’t look like it though) but it has nice views of the city

We go back to the room to do a little work and have an early night to begin fresh tomorrow
