Day 268 – Round and about Riga

Dave’s up about 9am and then Daisy around 10:30am; we start the morning with a yoghurt each and a coffee using the Airbnb’s coffee plunger ????

With some telly on, we do some work for a couple hours with another coffee before getting ready and heading out

It’s almost 2pm by now but, taking it easy today, we start with some late lunch at Oak’A Burgers which we walk to via going past Riga St. Paul’s Lutheran Church

A chicken and guacamole burger, a beef smash burger and some chips; we accompany this meal with the place’s own sauces: apple-whisky BBQ, honey BBQ and chipotle

From here, we go over the road and grab the trolley bus that takes us to Centra Rajons where we walk under a bridge and get to Riga Central Market

The area seems to be comprised of retired train storage buildings that have been repurposed into various market halls

We walk through the meat pavilion, then the street outside has fresh fruits and veg, followed by another pavilion with a food court and then a fish market

Sort of doing a loop, we come out the other side and find clothes and flowers being sold before leaving the area to find a jazzy building that is the Latvian Academy of Sciences (LZA)

Today, we seem to be feeling the effects we should have yesterday so decide to make our way back to the apartment to chill

We do this for a few hours and then head out to buy some bits from the Rimi Super to cook some dinner

We make our own CTM and, since there was no naan breads there, have it with garlic bread and our left overs from yesterday’s dinner out

Not too busy of a day in all but we’ll have a proper punt at exploring from tomorrow ☺️
