This morning, Dave is up for a virtual job interview so we prepare him with coffee and a small breakfast and then finish packing
We bid farewell to our family’s home again and catch the bus to nearby Auckland’s Britomart station
Around the corner, basically, is Snickel Lane where we get a coffee each, from Altezano Brothers, and share a sando, from Tartare

We finish these and get back to Britomart to catch a southern line train to Puhinui and change to the Airport Link Bus to get to the domestic terminal
The airport feels rather small making it efficient so it’s not long before we drop the one checked bag we have and get to The Gipsy Moth to grab a couple pretty decently priced airport beers ($13 for actual pints!)

Once finished, we grab a snack of a Macca’s deal to tide us until dinner, get through security and we’re being called to board the flight – it actually departs early
It’s a very short flight for us to arrive into Wellington; as it’s a domestic flight, we’re through to baggage claim quickly, collect our bag, purchase a Snapper (public transport) card and then get on the AX Airport Express bus
We get off and check into our hotel for the night, the Trinity Hotel, where we drop off our stuff, have a bit of a freshen up and then wander out
For dinner, we went to a place we liked last time as a reasonably priced treat: two 200gm rump steaks on volcanic stones for $40, with a couple of happy hour wines

The Grand had the news on the televisions around the restaurant which all had the US elections on so we sadly watched the devastation unfolding…
After, we realise we have enough time to catch the end of the latest happy hour, we’ve found so far: Minibar sorts us a wine and a Steinlarger (see the featured image)
Getting tired, we head back to our hotel and have a nose at the rooftop bar before bed

It has some jazzy artwork in the stairwell including pretty greenery and the eye of a tuatara, a living dinosaur from NZ!
The view from the roof isn’t the best but it’s not bad

Time for bed
