Today is Dave’s birthday, and we have a lovely plan set – we kick off the day going to Café Figg to have some breakfast and they even give Dave a massive slice of cake for free!

Time to get on the road – we have to get to Martinborough

We arrive at Margrain Vineyard Villas where we check in and wander around to their cellar door to use our complimentary tasting included with our stay

This begins the little vineyard crawl for today – there are lots of wineries down Puruatanga Road

After Margrain, we get to Tirohana Estate followed by Poppies Martinborough

We enjoy Poppies’ sauvingnon blanc so much, we grab a bottle to take away!

Next, we go to Moy Hall Vineyard (see the featured image) and then The Runholder

At the latter, we grab a garlic and cheesy flatbread with our tasting of the wine and gin they make

At this point, it’s about 5pm and the vineyards that were open today have all closed so one of the staff members kindly gives us a ride to the centre of Martinborough

We have a drink at each Cool Change Bar & Eatery and The Martinborough Hotel while we decide what to do for dinner

Tirohana Estate was one of the vineyards we went to earlier and they do a three-course meal so they kindly pick us up and we spend the evening there

The sunset happens between dinner and dessert so we pop out to grab a few pictures with the pink sky

After dinner, they also kindly drop us back to our accommodation
