Breakfast and nice coffee come included in our accommodation with check out also being a little later than usual which is a nice treat
Once out, we drive round to Lake Te Anau’s hydro dam Control Gates which is the start of another walk on the Kepler Track
Another example where every man and his dog seem to have the same idea as us but we eventually get to wander on our own
We’re walking this track as there have previously been sightings of wild kea, a native NZ mountain parrot so we’re hoping to get to spot one!
It’s about 40 minutes to Dock Bay and then 30 minutes to Brod Bay – both of these beaches are filled with locals who have driven their boats to the shore with jet skis, paddle boards and water skiing kit in tow

Our tramping trail heads inland and up the hill; we’re aiming to reach a point on Google Maps labelled Limestone Rock Walk but, getting pretty tired after almost two hours of walking, we don’t make it all the way and start the return walk
We total about 3.5 hours of walking by the time we’re back to the car and drop into Te Anau town to get dinner supplies and fuel before driving to Kingston
It’s a 1.5 hour drive to reach Kingston where we’re based for the night; we check into the Top 10 Park here where we get straight to cooking dinner

A BBQ feast of burgers and sausages
We follow this with a walk to the edge of Lake Wakatipu and find a vintage railway train
As well as this, we find a street that’s special to Dave as it’s named after the county he is from (see the featured image)!
On the way back to our accommodation, we find the town’s playground and have a go on the zipline swing for a little fun

Absolutely knackered, we chill for the evening
