10 am check out gets us up and about wandering to find somewhere open for coffee and breakfast this morning

Coffee Lovers Cafe is very busy but we do manage to eventually get served our first meal of the year

After, we grab a coffee from Rollickin Gelato and then get the car

We have a little detour to grab some cheap-ish fuel and supplies for the car and then head off to start our long drive

It’s about an hour and a half to Waiau River Lookout

We stop into Hanmer Springs to have a break and then are on the road again

The road takes us through Lewis Pass (see the featured image)

Eventually, we make it to Westport after 5 pm and over 330 kilometres later

We stop into New World here to grab dinner supplies and make a spag bowl and have an early night
