Day 488 – Snorkelling the islands

This morning, we’re up before 8 am and get ready quick before popping over the road to Amazon Café and 7/11

Our ride is here precisely on time, which we are a little late for, and we are taken to Bang Bao Pier through the hills, coasts and jungles

This pier has lots of shops and goes on down a small corridor alley for ages

At the end of it, we pay the fee for the national park we’re about to enter and the board our boat

It’s about 1.5 hours until we get to our first stop and we’re given our snorkels for the day, and clearly told there’s a 1,000 baht fee if they’re not returned!

First stop is Koh Yak Lek – the water isn’t greatly clear as the waves are rather choppy

Being stronger swimmers than most of the other tourists, were able to venture around the side and dive a little to find a wall of fish!

After this, we’re driven to Hat San Jao, also known as Shrine Beach on Koh Rang, where we’re given a buffet lunch

We have time to play on the beach but we decide to explore around the entirety of Koh Mak

Up next, we’re taken to Koh Yak Yai which is very close to the initial stop and has a bit better visibility now the wind has died down

Finally, the boat gets a bit stuck in some of the ropes here around Koh Rang Main Pier and beach so we enjoy the remaining time here, rather than another island

We’re called back to the boat around 3 pm and we make the journey back to mainland

Sadly, there wasn’t too much wildlife to see but it was nice to get another chance to snorkel ????

The ride back to our hotel gets us in for about 5 pm and we’re pretty hungry now so quickly freshen up and head to Sale e Pepe Koh Chang

We have a diavola pizza to share and it’s really good, which makes sense that the owner is actually Italian!

Following this, we grab a cheeky two-pack of Chang beers and walk to Kai Bae Beach town which is pretty lively tonight

As we only had something small to share before, we grab a second dinner at Morgan Restaurant & Bar of chicken panang curry and cheesy bacon fries

After this, we’re a little knackered so decide to wander back with a draught beer to go and get some rest
