Day 100 – Flowering in Australia

We’ve got getting to the train and catching our quick ride to the Circular Quay down to a fine art!

Walk along the east quay to the Opera House – but boy is it busy today! Could be the cruise ship, maybe something else? It’s packed

Plus it’s hot today – UV index is extreme! Apparently that means burning in 11 minutes of exposure to the sun! Crickey!

Just behind the Opera House is where the Royal Botanical Gardens begin. We see the Government House – closed till the 12th – but looks fancy from outside; like a little castle

Stroll past the lawns and wild flowers, trees of all kinds and, of course, the bin chickens (ibis) are everywhere

To the Cat’s Pyjamas for a coffee watching the bin chickens trying to get into the bin – whilst standing on it

See Australian eels in one of the ponds – they apparently escape from the harbour, wiggle on land over the lawns to migrate to different ponds in the park – it’s how they originally you here – eating ducks and moorhens

On to Mrs Macquarie’s Chair for awesome views of the Opera House and bridge

Lots of preparation happening for NYE

Around the rose garden, rock gardens, succulents – spotting ibis, cormorants and herons

And even a Kookaburra!!

Grab a gelato from Gelato Tesoro and enjoy on the harbour front before heading into McDonald’s for a super cheap frozen Coke Zero

Then to the shopping centre on Pitt street – plenty of random acts and things happening in the streets

Here’s also home to the largest LEGO store in the world

Pop to Woolworths for supplies for a home cooked meal and train home

Daisy cooks so it takes a while but not half bad pile of food

Spag bowl with salad and cheesy garlic bread buns

Stick a noughties Nick Cage film on before bed
