A slow start today, but we grab the bus about lunchtime into the city centre

It appears that Adelaide, even though much smaller a population, is ahead of Melbourne (and Canberra!) with its transport – we can just tap bank card to catch the bus! No MyKi required ????

First stop is the Rundle Mall for a cheeky little roast to share for lunch

We’ve lucked in as they have Mall Fest on at the moment so there are a few acts and performances about the place

Next stop, the South Australian Museum housing the largest collection of Aboriginal artefacts in the world – and it’s free entry!

As well as the artefacts, they have many a stuffed animal, an Egypt exhibition, a multitude of gemstones including the Fire of Australia (an giant opal – the national gem of Australia) and a large pacific region collection from places such as Fiji, New Britain, PNG

A toasty 33 degree day today! Trust our luck to be in the middle of a heatwave ????

As a very toasty pair, we hit McDonald’s for a cold drink then head to the Botanical Gardens

It’s pretty, tidy and quite giant: there are a couple of weddings going on, live music at the cafe, a creek as well as a pond, several conservatories and fountains – everything you need really

We then head out to something we spotted earlier – The Garden Of Unearthly Delights – part of the Comedy Fringe festival

It has a few venues dotted over Adelaide serving comedy, circus, burlesque, etc, alongside bars and food trucks – it’s nice to get those good old festival vibes back, like a small section of Glastonbury

We enjoy a couple of drinks in the Japanese bar, the High horse bar, stroll around the festival rides and bits – a lovely day out

A failed attempt to get in to the Best of Edinburgh show, we ended up on a Comedy bar crawl

First stop is Cry Baby – a solid classic rock dive bar – a 25 minute “walk” – get in, get a pint and stool at the front – watch the host and another guy

Off to Rhino Rooms next – outside on a side street they have closed for the event with a food truck and stage, and can go inside downstairs for bits

A global gig, Amos Gill, comes on stage and we enjoy a few laughs with a glass of wine

Next up is The Austral – seems to be somewhat legendary amongst locals; we head to the back room to see a very angry English lass roasting various audience members

Finally onto Fumo Blu – downstairs, we have an audience with an angry right wing anti-vaccine aussie; we get some of the jokes but got lost around the jokes about the hydraulic pressures in your fork lift truck ????

Tipsy and starving, it ends and we head to the Fool’s Paradise grounds of the Fringe festival to grab a pizza and Vietnamese noodle bowl

Shattered, we catch the bus back to the hotel, where we cash in our free drinks vouchers for 2 very large glasses of wine – we are knackered but who can say no to free wine!

A cheeky couple games of pool later, we head upstairs and pass out
