Day 152 – Relishing recovery

Bummer that we’ve both woken up poorly – seems being full on with activities gives us little time to chill our beans!

Wake up very slow with a coffee before having to speedily get ready and check out of the Empire Hotel

Another coffee and some food is needed STAT – Dave finds a little place, called Beach Haven Cafe, North West of Adelaide that sorts us for both

A ham & cheese toastie, a ham, cheese & pineapple toastie and two flat whites

We can’t get to the Marina here as it looks like a private club so venture down to Largs Bay

Here, we stop and pop along the jetty – it’s a gorgeous day and lots of people are out enjoying the vast stretch of shallow sea water

Stroll along the beach and then make our way to Port Adelaide’s Visitor Information Centre

They have a lot of free literature about the area and areas surrounding Adelaide with activities to get up with

Out and down the road, we see the Port Adelaide Lighthouse and this body of water is apparently a hotspot for Dolphins – we don’t see any but our hopes aren’t lost just yet

We drive to Garden Island next and this hosts the Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary – 30 Dolphins reside here full time with another 300 dipping in and out often

We stroll along the boardwalk/jetty but it’s rather hot so don’t stick around in broad daylight too long

You’re meant to be able to spot other wildlife here too: varied Seal species, common and rare shorebirds, etc.

No luck with any sightings of animals but we’re happy with seeing lots of these on other occasions – time to make our way to the centre and work out where we’re abandoning the car for a couple days

Car parking in Adelaide is extortionate but we eventually take our pick and lug all of our things to TRYP by Wyndham, a very fancy place Dave’s treated Daisy to for her birthday

We check in and realise we’re peckish so head back out and down the road to McDonald’s

“Loose Change” meal for Dave and a box of 24 nuggets for Daisy

Back to the hotel, we chill and put a couple loads of laundry on

Time for food again – we need something to kick these colds in the butt!

The Logical Indian serves us a chicken tikka masala, a Madras chicken, a garlic naan and a mango lassi – delish ????

We stroll back through a couple parks, as it’s dark and we’ve heard that Possums do live in the metropolitan areas of Adelaide

In Osmond Gardens, we do spot one ???? no photo evidence as he scooted up a tree in a hurry

Back to our room to relax with Dante’s Peak before bed
