Day 171 – A couple of big things

Wake up with a couple coffees and working out some breaks along the way of driving today

Out the door, we pop to a charity shop briefly for Daisy and into Woolies for some snacks

Now we can get started – drive about an hour to get us to Plantation Park, in Ayr

They have a big Carpet Python here

Gubulla Munda (the Snake) is the totem for the Juru tribe Birri-Gubba Nation and represents sacred, spiritual and cultural significance to the Traditional Custodians of this land

We prep some roast chicken sandwiches while we stroll in the park, along with several Bin Chickens

It starts to rain heavily so we get back on the road

Not far away is the Burdekin Bridge

We keep going for over an hour before passing Bowen to find the Big Mango

There’s also an information place here about the area which was very handy as our tour for tomorrow has been postponed for a couple days, due to the severe winds

Next, we arrive in Airlie Beach where we stock up on some bits for dinner before making our way to our stay for the next several days: Discovery Parks

Have a little shower and chill before getting cracking with dinner

They have a communal camp kitchen which we use to cook up a feast of chicken fajitas

Time for bed with Face/Off on the telly before bed
