Coffee, apple and chocolate snacks with The Expendables 2 on the laptop as we wake up
Get ready and out not too far for our first stop off today – we keep walking by the Queensland Museum each day so we figure we might as well pop in as it’s free entry
The many dinosaurs around the place also peaked at Dave’s interest ????

They have several floors of items including some of Australia’s largest fossils, immaculately-kept insect collections, multiple minerals and the typical taxidermied animals
They also have a couple of paid exhibitions as well as the Brisbane Science Festival being held currently
With today being the last day, they let us in an additional section of the museum… they’ve got a marine Turtle hatchery!

From the way humans impact them with rubbish to actual Turtles being around hatching, it’s quite a show – Davesy even gets to see one hatch right in front of us!
After this, we head on to our next activity – earlier in the week, walking around the South Bank area, we’d come across an event being held at the River Quay Green
We get over to the area but there’s no live music as advertised – probably called off due to the rain – but we stroll around anyway
Nearby, we stumbled on what looked like the closing of a street market; we wonder up and down and then spy Hop & Pickle for a sit down with some music to enjoy the atmosphere of the area

We’ve accidentally found a British-style gastro pub so can’t refuse the Sunday roast offered
Ordering a small portion to share, it’s done well for our high standards – one of the best attempts at a Yorkie we’ve come across ????

Time to go on and we get to South Bank station to take us to Fortitude Valley
This is a place we’ve not been before and it doesn’t seem like the best side of Brisbane but we’re just walking through it to reach the waterside of the Brisbane River
Here, there’s Felons Brewing Co which is in prime position for a view of the Story Bridge and cityscape

The prices here are quite high but we have a Calabrese pizza to share, omitting the olives, and a tasting board of the venue’s own brews: lager, alcoholic ginger beer, IPA and a margarita sour
The place seems to have its own lift so we go up it to get back to Fortitude Valley and then get off at our South Brisbane station for home

With a load of washing on, we get packing and prepare for our departure of Brisbane tomorrow before hitting the hay
