Well, it was an interesting sleep…
Bed was comfy enough but Daisy gets attacked by a bird when briefly popping out to turn off the lights outside our room, a thunderstorm rolls through, two power cuts send the air con berserk blowing air too strongly into our faces and by 8am it sounds like a kids program is blaring from loud speakers around the town
We are up and have the hotel breakfast: this includes drip coffee, french toast, regular toast, yoghurt, fruit and juice – it’s yummy and very filling

Around midday, we properly get started today with a cheeky baked good each from the bakery with Bunnies we found yesterday – Cake go “O” – a chocolate banana muffin and a blueberry muffin (sadly, both a little dry and disappointing)
Back to the room, we shower and do a little work
We then head to Pai Authentic Travel, which is on the walking street, as we’ve booked a tour spending the whole afternoon seeing the sights and surroundings of Pai – for about a tenner!
The tour starts at around 1pm where we’re picked up in a taxi truck and whisked to Chedi Phra That Mae Yen, or Big Buddha Pai

There are a few fair steps but the view is pretty nice and we realise it’s the Buddha we can see in the distance from our hotel room
After, we’re taken in the car to Yun Lai Viewpoint – again, another nice view of the landscape around Pai

In the car, we’re taken a little round the corner to Santichon Village which is a tourist spot for seeing a Chinese village
The place has a hut over a pond filled with Koi fish, a “replica Great Wall of China” as well as a very precariously basic ferris wheel some other people on our tour go on ????

Next, we’re on the road again to another stop; along the way, there’s many a Cow and Water Buffalo in terraced rice fields
We arrive at Pam Bok Waterfall where we pay an entrance fee of £2 each and get to the waterfall and can go for a dip

A short paddle later, we dry off and get back to our car which drops us off at Pambok Coffee for the majority of an hour
We get a passion fruit soda and a pineapple soda to enjoy another nice view with

Following this, we are in the car again for a short ride to Kho Ku So Bamboo Bridge
It’s a bamboo boardwalk taking you past another pond of hungry Fish, Wat Phaem Bok, lots of rice fields that have Chickens and Water Buffalo meandering to a pond where they take the edge off the heat, by Phaem River and all the way to Wat Pa Huai Khai Khiri

Here, there’s a shrine dedicated to wishing happiness where people seem to leave rocks that they’ve written on
Sadly, the main temple is shut for today so we walk back to the start and get taken to our last stop on the tour
Pai Canyon is the place to be for sunset; we’re dropped for about an hour as the sun is making it’s descent

We explore different parts of the canyon to get various viewpoints; there’s a lot of cloud today, as rain is trying to happen so the sun goes behind these but it’s still very pretty
Back to the car and we’re left at our hotel where we freshen up quickly before getting some dinner, as we’re hungry by now

We have a chicken satay to start and then a chicken massaman curry, a pad Thai and a couple of large Chang beers, at Pai Siam Bar & Bistro
Next, we move on to Boom Bar which is having it’s re-opening night tonight: a mojito, a margarita and a couple of free shots

We then head back to the walking street where we find that Paizy Bar has some bargain cocktail buckets so get one each
There’s a giant Jenga at the front and we find some people playing that we challenge to doubles

The bar closes up and everyone’s heading round to Boom Bar where the party has livened up; along the way, we get talking to another couple which Daisy finds out that they have mutual friends from her home town!
They have the chill area with a pool table, relaxed seating and a place for live bands but also have a clubby section downstairs; we’re here for a few drinks and then everyone moves on again
We moved bars between bars a couple more times and it becomes very early morning… it’s time to head back!
Around 4:30am, we’re back to our hotel where we try and make the most of what sleep we can get by this time ????
