Day 267 – Who knew Oslo had two airports?

Well, we’re up at 2:20am today

We’re off to another country as Norway is a little out of our budget – as such, we have an early flight that was super cheap

However… upon double checking yesterday, we’re not flying out of the same airport we arrived into just a couple days before – instead, it’s another airport South of Oslo and it takes 2 hours to get there from our Airbnb ????

Good thing we looked this up too as on our way back to Oslo, we’ll have to do the same route as we have another flight out of here ????

We get up to have a quick coffee and shower and check out of the apartment to walk to a nearby bus stop

The bus doesn’t take long to drop us at Oslo’s bus terminal in the centre and we wait here for the airport bus – it’s about £45 for both of us

On the bus, we do a little bit of work while the sun rises – it’s baby pink and it’s adorable!

At the airport, we get through security and then pass through duty free to get to the international side of the airport

We get a cappuccino and croissant each in a deal and do a little more work before our gate opens

The flight is a mere 1 hour and 15 minutes and then we’re into Riga, Latvia ????

As we’re back in Europe, the Shenzhen zone means no passport control is required at all so we are straight outside and a bus is basically ready waiting to take us to the centre

The bus is about 20 minutes and less than £2 per person – along the way, we get a view of both the Vanšu Bridge and the Railway Bridge

We wander to the centre through Plac Ratuszowy – a renewed cobble market square that was previously destroyed during WWII – passing the House of the Black Heads and Riga City Hall to get to Costa Coffee

Here, we have a vanilla latte each, share a ham and cheese toastie and do some more work

Next, we wander in the area – accidentally around St. Peter’s Church (see the featured image) – and over to the LIDO Alus Sēta before midday

*Hey, don’t judge us – we’ve already been up 8 hours ????*

This place serves relatively cheap pints as a self-service style restaurant – we get a pear cider for Daisy and a beer for Dave

We stew here for a little before getting up again to try a new place for some lunch

Along the way to a place we found online, we stumble on Easy Wine and it’s a winner with it’s prosecco bottle price of €13!

It’s a bubbly pizza sort of day – we have a margarita and a diavola pizza to share between us

It rains on and off and there’s even a small bit of thunder about

Following this, we can check into our Airbnb so we head over there; we’ve bought 5 days worth of public transport passes, that comes to €10 each

We get in, chill briefly, shower and head out again

Brooklyn Pub & Whiskey Room sorts us a couple locally brewed drinks: Užavas Gaišais for Dave and Brenguļu Gaišais for Daisy

Hungry, we leave and go to LIDO Vērmanītis – it’s the same chain we were in before but this specific one was recommended by our host

We have a drink first and then get several plates of food

Latvian garlic bread, beef in cream sauces with steamed veggies, some potato sticks (kinda soggy chips), roasted chicken with roasted new potatoes and a little bottle of Rigas sparkling wine to share

After this, we’re most definitely shattered so get back home via a Rimi Super (a supermarket brand in Latvia)

On the route home we walk through the Ziedoņdārzs park where there’s lots of dogs

We get back and it’s still light – sunset is around 10:20pm here – but we call it a night ????
