Today, we head into Wellington and then the airport as we’ve organised a car rental for the next few days
The collection is really smooth and they even let us take it a bit early
As it’s around lunch time, we have some lunch at AROMA COFFEE WORKS

Just down the road is Mary Potter Hospice Shop – Miramar where we pick up an artificial Christmas tree for just $5
We then go look at the old Mount Crawford Prison and the views of the Mount Victoria and Petone

With not too much here, we move on to Point Halswell Lighthouse (see the featured image), Scorching Bay, Fort Ballance and Massey Memorial

We’ve saved best until last: Red Rocks is also within the Wellington region but down south in Ōwhiro Bay – we park in the visitor centre as our rental car isn’t equipped with 4WD
It’s a pleasant walk but it’s about 2.5 hours to reach the main attraction here – fur seals!

We get to see about five before needing to head back
As it’s pretty late by the time we get back, we opt for a pizza hut bargain takeaway with a bottle of fizz to relax with for the evening
