Daisy is up and out to go to work for the last day before the year
It seems most, if not almost all, of New Zealand seems to shut down for about 3 weeks over the Christmas and New year period – we figure we might as well join them!
We enjoy some lunch together, from Pak’n’Save, and finalise packing; Daisy finishes work about 3pm and we quickly grab a train to Welly and then the airport bus
The journey is about an hour and we arrive in plenty of time to grab a cheeky drink to celebrate the start of getting back to travelling ???? there’s even some live music!

Our flight isn’t too delayed and we’re sat next to each other, which is a nice bonus; with just about half an hour in the air, we arrive into Christchurch
We don’t have any checked bags so get straight out and grab the 29 bus to the centre – it’s around 30 mins and just $2 per person!
On the way to our hotel, we spy a happy hour so quickly get to the Wyndham Garden Christchurch City to check in and drop out bags
We get back to the Jolly Poacher for a cheeky jug of DB for $12

Getting hungry, we hunt around for an easy eat: we find an Irish bar, The Bog, which has live music and seems a cool place but they’ve stopped serving food for tonight – another time though
Krung Thep Thai Street Food, on Colombo Street, is kind enough to let us order and eat just before they close up

We go for chicken green curry and chicken pad Thai with a couple glasses of Marlborough sauvingnon blanc
Absolutely knackered, we get back to our hotel and get some sleep
