Day 90 – The first Malay day

Up early – roll out of bed and grab a tuktuk to the airport

We need T2 this time round so wonder around until we eventually find it

In where we print our tickets and through to passport control – pretty painless

Through security smoothly

Dave spies a fresh orange stand so we splash the final bits of cash on one as well as a couple of filter coffees and two coke zeros for the plane

Time to board; we’re not together ???? but we’re both aisle seats of the same row

Food on the plane – they didn’t like our cards so we use some remnant Singapore money to buy ????

Chicken and prawn noodles for Daisy and chicken with black pepper sauce for Dave ????

We reach Malaysia – off the plane ASAP to find it’s so clean and modern!

Passport control is relatively quick and we find the first place we see for a couple of coffees

Old Town White Coffee – very terrible but very cheap ????

We muddle our way through this airport-mall hybrid to grab a Grab Taxi – best app-taxi ever, btw – and set off to our hotel

It’s certainly refreshing to be in a car where they use lanes, there’s no horns blarring and you have an actual seat belt ????

Vastly different to India too not being littered with rubbish … no freely roaming animals though as well (sad times)

Our hotel is very swanky: Verdant Hill Hotel – we check in, freshen up and head out to explore

Nice to have footpaths!

We wonder via the walkway to reach KLCC Park, through the convention centre

Cute Christmas deco too!

The park is well maintained and has Symphony Lake with jazzy fountains at the foot of the Petronas Twin Towers

The Suria KLCC Mall by the lake leads into the Petronas building – the viewing area of the towers are shut on Mondays though

Back to the park, we decide to venture for a higher view

We go to the Traders Hotel which has it’s Sky Bar

A couple of drinks here right by the pool

Nice and airy even though we’re in the building as many windows are open

A tropical thunderstorm hits!

We can sit out the weather with anothet drink though ????

After it settles, we go back out to the park and admire the well lit high-rises

Little light show in the fountains – there’s also a sound and light show but we’ll see it another day we’re here

Time for some food – we go back towards our hotel and find Bijan

Traditional Malay food includes a selection of Bijan’s small plates to start, Ayam Masak Kuzi (chicken chunks with tomatoes, almonds and raisins) and Masak Lemak Cendawan Tiram dengan Udang (mushrooms & prawns cooked in a tumeric and coconut milk curry)

The starter ????

The hotel is just round the corner so we stroll back

Time for bed to make the most of our full days here
